The Best Gifts

The Valentine's Day Blog Hop is here. This means your chance to win! I will be giving away a copy of Burning Touch to one commenter.

Let's talk about Valentine's Day. What do you like to give your sweetheart? What do you like to receive?

Frankly, I am open to all sorts of gifts (Winks at DH). Jewelry is great, but please don't buy me any of those heavily advertised necklaces or bracelets that jewelry stores want you to buy. You know the ones - they always look way prettier on TV as some celebrity pimps them.

I'm also a sucker for flowers, but be original. Don't go for the red roses everyone else does. How about some irises or roses in an unusual shade. And if you are smart, don't get me a live plant because the poor thing won't live long under my brown thumb!

I love all sorts of chocolate (unfortunately). So if you want more of me, this is the gift that keeps giving;-) Seriously, I don't need any more calories.

Okay, so I'm being picky, right? Well, truth is, I don't really need a gift. A card is nice, but what I enjoy most from my honey is his time. I want to know he's thought about making the day special for me and I will do the same for him. A long walk in a romantic spot is great. Stepping up a date night to make it a little more special is perfect.

But what about you? What do you want your honey to do for you?

Although I love the gestures, I'm getting old and jaded and think the holiday is way, way, way too commercialized. Although "occasion" gifts and deeds are nice, I'd prefer the everyday things. Laugh with me. Bring me that glass of wine at the end of the day. Pop into the room and say,"Do you need a hug?"

We don't really do a lot of gifts though he normally gets me a book I've been wanting. We tend to celebrate Valentine's day by spending it together. During the day we do things with our daughters then in the evening we have our time.

Terry; I made the mistake years ago of telling DH Valentine's Day was just a Hallmark holiday. I didn't get so much as a card for years after, but he's over that now;-)

Michelle - That sounds nice and low key! Enjoy.

I love that he lets me hang out on the computer all the time and write. Not too many guys would put up with this each weekend!

After 35 years together, we keep it pretty low key. I always give my hubby Sees candy and a Peet's coffee gift certificate, and he gives me a bouquet of carnationsand a mocha frappacino, my favorites.

My husband is good about the flower giving, he has but doesn't always do the roses, I like when he gives me a big bouquet of assorted flowers, they always last longer than roses.
Have a Happy Valentines' Day.

Happy Valentine's Day!

To be honest, when I met hubby he told me outright that he wasn't a card and flowers kind of guy and after 11 years together that hasn't changed. Just one I would like him to bring home something simple like that. He does well with big gifts (Kindle, jewelry etc.) but a little thing now and then is nice too!

Thanks for participating in this blog hop!

I'd love to get those everyday little things that show he cares about me. The holiday is just one day out of the year.
